Continuing its commitment to inclusive education, Delhi Public School Pune organised a two-day awareness and professional development programme for students and teachers on 9 and 10 January 2026, in collaboration with Trinayani under the En-Able initiative. The first day focused on student sensitisation aiming to assess their understanding of inclusive practices and promote awareness about diverse learning needs. Through interactive discussions, students learned that strength extends beyond physical ability to include emotional resilience, mental strength, and self-belief. They were encouraged to develop empathy and respect differences. The session introduced Indian Sign Language colours, highlighting alternative modes of communication.

Awareness was also created about assistive technologies such as JAWS screen-reading software, large-print keyboards, and the role of service dogs in supporting persons with visual impairment. Students gained basic knowledge about government-recognised blood disorders—Sickle Cell Anaemia, Haemophilia, and Thalassemia. Additionally, they learned about congenital and acquired disabilities. An assessment conducted after the session evaluated understanding, addressed misconceptions, and examined responses to real-life situations, reinforcing that inclusion is a shared responsibility.

The second day featured a professional development workshop titled “From Challenges to Opportunity: Supporting All Learners in a Class”, conducted on 10 January 2026. Facilitated by Ms. Shraddha Bhadsavle and Ms. Preeti Rane, the session engaged teachers through reflective activities, including the Peri-Peri and Hurdle activity, KWL exercise, and a quick quiz. Key concepts such as Inclusion as a Way of Life, Equity vs Equality, Universal Design for Learning, Differentiated Instruction, and Executive Functioning skills were discussed. Practical strategies to support learners with diverse needs were shared, emphasizing emotional safety, effort-based feedback, and predictable routines. The programme concluded with certificate distribution, marking a meaningful step towards building compassionate, inclusive classrooms aligned with DPS Pune’s Curriculum to Care philosophy.
