GRADUATION DAY

TRINAYANI ENABLE-DISABILITY AWARENESS WORKSHOP

The day commenced with an atmosphere of excitement as children eagerly anticipated their first major activity. The school quadrangle and classrooms were beautifully adorned with vibrant decorations like clouds, rainbows, flowers, and butterflies. Dressed in colourful attire and bringing healthy food, the children added to the joyous spirit. Each child was warmly welcomed with a personalized card featuring their photograph, handprint, and a heartfelt message. A special assembly held in the Multipurpose Hall set a positive tone for the day. It began with energizing warm-up exercises, prayer songs, and a lively dance performance by Preparatory students. The Head of School, Ms. Amita Singh, and Junior Wing Coordinator, Ms. Bhavna Bajaj, praised the students' teamwork and enthusiasm.

The second day highlighted that inclusion means valuing and supporting everyone, not treating them the same. It focused on understanding disability as a mismatch between individuals and societal design. Teachers learned basic Indian Sign Language (ISL) and explored assistive resources such as Braille materials, white canes, and hearing devices. They also discovered assistive technologies like VOCA, Awaz App, and cochlear implants. The workshop also sensitized attendees to barriers to education, classified into attitudinal, institutional, and environmental barriers, and underscored the importance of embedding inclusive values like fairness, sustainability, compassion, rights, community spirit, and respect for diversity. It encouraged rethinking environments through Design Thinking and Differentiated Instruction, ensuring that every student’s potential is unlocked. The session concluded with a Hindi poetry recitation, a feedback session, and a call to action: true inclusion begins by changing mind-sets, systems, and environments, not the disabled people. Teachers left with a commitment to promote inclusion in their communities, inspired by the belief that change starts with a shift in perspective
