On 16 July 2026, Delhi Public School, Pune organised the major co-curricular activity, "From Seed to Snack," for the Nursery and Preparatory students to help them understand the fascinating journey of food from seed to plate. The school quadrangle was transformed into an interactive learning space with colourful displays illustrating the stages of plant growth, nutritious snack alternatives, farmers' tools, and the journey of fruits and vegetables before they reach our homes. The celebration began with a special assembly, where the school gardener explained the importance of composting and the role of earthworms in keeping the soil healthy. The Nursery children charmed the audience with a lively dance promoting healthy eating and care for nature, while the Preparatory students brought The Little Red Hen to life through a delightful enactment, showcasing the journey of wheat to bread.

The learning continued through a variety of engaging, hands-on experiences thoughtfully planned for both groups. Nursery children enjoyed an interactive story on the life cycle of a seed, planted seeds in pots, and identified parts of plants during a nature hunt. Preparatory students took part in a story session with picture cards and role-play, a fun Seed Guessing Game, the energetic "Grow Like a Seed" action game, worksheet-based reflection, and a creative leaf collection and pattern-making activity. Blending storytelling, exploration, movement, creativity and outdoor learning, the "From Seed to Snack" celebration encouraged curiosity, teamwork and environmental awareness, while helping children appreciate the journey of food from nature to their plates. It was a joyful and enriching experience.
