The Annual Takshila Interschool Football Tournament- ‘KICK OFF’ was held on 12th and 13th and 15th Aug 2010 at Delhi Public School, Pune. Competitions such as this introduce children to a competitive environment and inculcate in them the true values of sportsmanship. The importance of sports and games in life can be understood by the fact that it has social, emotional as well as physical aspects. Sixteen schools including the host team participated in the competition.

The Principal, Mrs. Neelam Chakrabarty along with the COO Col Sinha graced the occasion. The Grand March Past by all the participating teams was the first event which was followed by the Welcome Speech. The Principal addressed the assembled audience. She stressed on the fact that each one of us cannot be a winner instead we must learn to lose gracefully and win with humility. Subsequently the COO Col Sinha spoke that it was the only game where players come into physical contact with each other. Hence, the game can highlight the true spirit of sportsmanship. He declared the game formally open by kicking a football into the open field. The Final match was played between: Bishops KLY v/s S Kalmadi. The Champions of the tournament were : Man of the Match: Sohan Khaturiya (Bishops KLY) ,Best Player of the Tournament: Nitesh Kale (Shyamrao Kalmadi), Best Goalkeeper: Johnathan Messan(Bishops KLY ) Best Defense: Akshay Ram Chandran (DPS Pune), Best Attacking Player: Johnathan Young (Bishops KLY).The Ceremony culminated with the invigorating speech given by the school Principal, Mrs. Neelam Chakrabarty, who encouraged and motivated all the competitors irrespective of their abilities and performance.
